That's what this asks of you, per month

It’s built for women who work, who parent, and who only get to themselves after the house is finally quiet.
I’d like to keep it small and very intentionally, ideally 5 members total, including me. The goal is a small, highly engaged board where every member brings meaningful expertise, credibility, relationships, or access, rather than building a large board with honorary or inactive members.

Tiffany Sharp, Founder

Note the phrase including me. Tiffany is naming herself as one of five, not sitting above the board. That’s the kind of organization this is, and it’s the kind of board we’re building.

The five seats

A CPA and a trauma clinician are not persuaded by the same paragraph, so here’s each one on its own terms.

Finance & Growth

CFO, CPA, banker, or experienced financial leader

Budgeting, financial oversight, sustainability, and access to capital. We’re a one-employee nonprofit with six revenue lines and a patent-pending software product. The financial architecture needs someone who has built one before.

Open

Legal & Governance

Attorney or compliance professional with nonprofit, healthcare, contracts, employment, or risk experience

Governance, contracts, and organizational risk. We handle sensitive personal information, we partner on Medicaid billing, and we’re taking a patent-pending product into county procurement. There is real work here.

Open

Fundraising & Strategic Partnerships

Someone with corporate, philanthropic, foundation, donor, and community relationships

Opening doors and shaping fundraising strategy. We sold two retreat sponsorships from a PDF with no web page. Imagine what happens with someone who actually knows this space.

Open

Clinical / Human Services Advisory

Behavioral health, trauma, Medicaid, domestic violence, or human services expertise

Keeping programs ethical, trauma-informed, and aligned with community need. We are non-clinical by design and we need someone clinical in the room to keep that boundary honest.

✓

Three to five meaningful introductions per year to potential partners, funders, sponsors, or strategic relationships

About that introductions ask

Most nonprofits are too shy to say it out loud. We’re saying it.
Three to five introductions a year is specific, measurable, and it tells you exactly what success looks like in this role. It also filters out honorary board members before they apply, which is precisely the point of a five-person board.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

What's the time commitment?
Approximately 25 to 35 hours per year. Six 90-minute board meetings, one annual strategy session, one or two events, occasional subject-matter support, and three to five introductions a year.
No. We’d rather have a first-time board member with deep relevant expertise than an experienced board member with none.
Partly, and we’d rather be honest about that. Three to five introductions a year is an expectation of every seat. There is no personal give-or-get requirement.
The board is the governing body and carries fiduciary duty. The advisory council advises on the MAE product and carries none. Different people, different asks.
